Seasons in Pelion
Due to the varied landscape, Pelion is a favourite destination for all seasons of the year. On the eastern side of the peninsula, the wonderful beaches of Mylopotamos, Fakistra, Papa Nero, Potistika and Plaka beach with exotic blue water are perfect for summer holidays. On the southern side you can explore the calmer more predictable kid friendly Afissos, Kala Nera or Lefokastro beaches.
Keep in mind that summer on the peninsula isn’t as hot as elsewhere in Greece because coastal breezes keep temperatures from reaching very high levels and staying on the mountain means you can enjoy the cool evening breeze during those hot summer days.
During autumn Agios Georgios Nilias, Pinakates, Vizitsa, Milies and Tsagarada the most traditional villages of Pelion, the elegant houses with grey stone roofs and paved paths are wonderful to visit. When winter comes skiing is an unforgettable experience as from the small ski centre of Chania you can ski while enjoying amazing views to the sea! Maybe one of its kind in the world!
