Hygia Yoga Retreat

We will embark on a journey together and experience how correct alignment can help us ground ourselves, create space within and lift us upwards.

During this week we will try to join body and mind, by using the precision of postures (asanas) and by placing our focus on different areas of our bodies. We will examine together the messages our bodies convey and respond.

The purpose and joy in the practice of asana is not about doing the perfect posture, it’s precisely to use them as a tool in order to understand and transform ourselves.

Throughout the week Kristina will accompany you in your yogic journey, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced yogi who wants to deepen their practice. Furthermore, since Kristina assists therapeutic yoga classes, she will be able to support you in your practice with the necessary adjustments and guidance.

Meet the instructor

Kristina Hygia Yoga RetreatKristina Assimakopoulou, founder of Hygia Yoga www.hygiayoga.com is Greek, born in London, raised between Athens and Paris, and is currently based in Brussels.

Kristina Assimakopoulou is an Iyengar yoga certified teacher and has been practicing yoga for more than a decade, since discovering it for its therapeutic qualities. She is passionate about yoga and believes practicing it transcends the physical benefits.

Kristina’s teaching is based on the Iyengar approach, and focuses on the precision of the yoga postures (asanas). This allows the body and mind to align, while discovering oneself in the process. By focusing on the details of postures, practitioners can gain a deep experience and insight into the benefits of yoga, both physically as well as mentally.

Kristina is also a Reiki practitioner and has completed Mindfulness training.

Some practical notes on how our week will roll out…

The retreat starts on Monday August 31st, 2020, with a welcome yoga session at 18:00 followed by dinner. You can arrive earlier during the day to have some time to rest and settle before we start our practice.

The following days we will have two yoga sessions daily (except one evening off), the morning practice (from 8:00-9:30), will be dynamic and rejuvenating while the evening (from 18:30–20:00), will be more focused on restorative asanas, breathing and relaxation.

In between classes you will have plenty of free time to relax, swim or do whatever is good for you on that particular day!

We have two beach excursions planned during the week to discover the beaches on the Aegean side. Milopotas, Fagkistra, Damouhari are some of the beautiful beaches hiding on the other side of the mountain…

There will be one evening without a yoga session or dinner, so that you’ll have the opportunity to discover the surrounding village and area.

The last day of the retreat will start with a yoga session and breakfast as usual and then you can continue on your journey.
